Statement from the Artist of Livermore Peace Monument

Trying to fit the "Peace Monument" sculpture to Livermore, avoiding the subjects that Livermore is well known for (the wine industry, the Lab., the rodeo, etc.) brought my focus to the hills. The sculpture's curving lines might be considered a reflection of the Livermore Hills. The holes hopefully will attract the interest of the kids who may wish to crawl in them. The sculpture (being constructed of wood) requires some care and maintenance (not out of keeping with peace). The two pieces may hint that peace requires more than one, working together in some harmony. Hopefully it is a peaceful object to observe.
